Karen studied Graphic Design at Stockport College then went on to Leicester where she was awarded a bursary from the Royal Society of Arts.
She has illustrated over 50 children's books throughout her career and animated for Cosgrove Hall Films, including Dangermouse, Duckular, the BFG and Rainbow.
In 2000 she studied Art Psychotherapy at the University of Sheffield, which enabled her to work with people affected by cancer and mental health issues.
After retiring, Karen decided to become a fine artist and she currently has a studio at Bank Vale Mill, Hayfield. Her main interest currently involves painting wildlife, although figures and landscapes have also played an important part in her work.
Karen has exhibited at the Portico, Buxton Art Gallery, Stockport Art Gallery, Manchester Art Fair, the Old Parsonage (Didsbury), Urbis, Castle Park Arts Centre (Frodsham) and she takes part in Derbyshire Open Arts each year.
Karen is a member of the Association of Animal Artists.
